The question may be easier to answer if we begin by a simple comparison.
For example, what is a Jewish blog? Does it always need to be a blog that talks specifically about Jews or Jewish life? Or can it simply be a blog, written by a Jewish person, about sports or food or politics or vacation spots around the world? In other words, the blog can be just as Jewish even if it never specifically addresses Jewish concerns or raises uniquely Jewish topics.
So, what is a Christian blog? Must all Christian blogs even announce that they are Christian blogs? Can a blog that routinely addresses political issue be a truly Christian blog? Can a blog that discusses art or literature be a Christian blog? Do all truly Christian blogs need to include some Bible teaching or Christian moral, ethic, etc.?
My own opinion is that a real Christian blog is produced by any genuine Christian blogger who writes from the heart. The blog itself may be all about dolls or bicycle-riding or space exploration, or even comic books. The theme and subject do not necessarily matter, so long as the blogger is true to his/her Christian convictions while on the job of producing a useful blog.
That’s my own opinion, as already stated. And some folks will strongly disagree. They feel that to be properly wear the label “Christian blog,” the blog itself must address Christian themes in some way. They believe that a truly Christian blog should be about church issue, or doctrine, or Christian living, or some other specifically Christian concern. And there is obviously a workable logic to their argument.
What do you think?
